For me Merlin, by not helping Mordred and by condemning Kara for her actions, is not hypocrite. Kara was a murderer and, despite knowing this, Merlin tried to convince Arthur not sentence her to death. Freya was dangerous but she didn't do what she did on purpose and felt regrett for it. It is true that Mordred did what he did for love, but he saw how Kara was beyond saving so his situation is different, because Merlin didn't begin to hate Arthur, Uther or Gaius after Freya's death.
What's on your mind?

Um wtf is going on in the relationship section for Gwaine? Lancelot and Gwaine aren't boyfriends, isn't this supposed to touch on the show. Not fanfiction.
Just Updated
Dear members
The Kilgharrah page desperately needs to be fixed since it's full of grammatical errors and typos. It also jumps from past tense to present tense and vice versa. Some time ago we agreed to choose present tense for Merlin-related pages here on this wiki.
I don't have the time right now to correct all of it, so if anyone who speaks English well enough and has the time and nerve to fix the page, preferably a native speaker, please help with eliminating all the errors and wrong grammar.
Thank you very much.
Hi, I am 58 years old and enjoyed watching Merlin each week, all five series. I was upset when the series ended and can't understand why the writers/creators could not find a way to continue writing more, after all the show was named MERLIN and was centered around him, right? Even after Arthur's Death marlin was still alive and he problemly got himself into all kinds of things. Face it the series ends with Merlin walking down a paved road and a truck passing him by, so the writers must have some ideas left in the bag of tricks, or would they like some help? If the BBC keeps shows like DR.Who on the air, Who travelled in a telephone booth to different worlds/places and the show is so far out of reach( I can't stand the show and I don't know anyone that does) , Please bring back a little bit of reality/Si-fi, and make new series of Merlin, At least some of us Canadains liked the series. Thanks Lawrence M.
I guess you guys already know this, but the welcome messages don't work properly. When I go to another user's page, their welcome message senses my name, and welcomes me for performing their first edit. I don't think that's what you probably intended.
You would do better not talking about 'broadswords' or 'longswords'. In effect most of the swords used in the series would be (roughly) comparable to Type X from Oakeshott's typology. These fit the single hand grip, fuller running nearly full length of the blade, little tapering a slightly rounded at the tip. These are effectively cutting blades as armour of the period in the show is not sufficient to protect the user. The Longsword is historically a later invention with a far more tapered profile and stiffer blade to be used for thrusting through the gaps in plate armour. I wouldn't call any of the blades in Merlin a longsword as it doesn't really fit the level of technology of the 'fantasy' historical time.
Another point is that the height or strength of the wielder doesn't really matter when talking of the length of the sword (unless it's a child or dwarf I suppose). Granted if your thinking of the huge 50" Scottish claymores or the greatswords used by German landesknecht (also popular in Denmark) in the 16th century it might, but otherwise it is more about the balance than weight. A 2lb sword can be harder to wield than a 40"+ 4lb sword if the balance is off. A well balanced longer sword will not feel heavy to use and there are single handed techniques for using 2-handed swords to prove it.
See the following link for a sample of Oakeshott's work on classifying swords of the medieval period.
Wonderful new layout! I love blue anyway :-)
Only the light blue of the categories on the Wiki Activity etc... is hard to read. Is it possible to make it dark blue?
