Merlin Season 1 Episode 1:
As you know, when Merlin arrives to Camelot, he visits Gaius who he is sent to see. As Merlin enters Gaius's chambers, he falls off his ladder on the verge of badly hurting himself, when Merlin uses his magic to freeze Gauis and bring a chair for him to land on.
This discussion has 2 Sections to it:
Section 1: Let's think about this; Gauis is quite an old age and with old age becomes a weaker body. Should Merlin have not of saved him in time, would Gauis really have died or would he be badly wounded?
NOTE: Gaius mentions time and time again to Merlin that he owes him a great debt. Was this particular act by Merlin really an act of heroism, or was he simply LUCKY to be in the right place at the right time?
Section 2: Lets switch the scenario a bit. Let's say Gauis was not present in his chambers when Merlin arrived and it was ARTHUR instead that was on the ladder. If Merlin used magic to stop Arthur from badly hurting himself, what would ARTHUR'S reaction be? Would he use the excuse "Father, he saved my life, I owe him a debt" again or would he be enraged with anger and have Merlin executed?
Answer this discussion as best you can, please use Section 1 or Section 2 at the start of your responses so I know which category you're expressing your opinions from.
