The duel between Arthur and Odin occurred after Odin and Morgana took King Rodor hostage to lead Arthur into a trap.
Events
The duel began after Arthur and Merlin led Odin away from Mithian and Rodor. When Odin caught up with them in a ravine, he ordered his men to stand aside so he could kill Arthur himself.
Arthur quickly gained the upper hand during the duel. He easily parried Odin's blows and knocked him to the ground, then held his sword to his throat. Before he could kill Odin, however, Merlin intervened and helped Arthur realize that killing Odin would achieve nothing except a war without end.
Arthur offered to spare Odin in exchange for Rodor's restoration to the throne of Nemeth and peace between Odin's Kingdom and Camelot. Though Odin initially refused, he ultimately reconsidered and accepted Arthur's terms (Another's Sorrow).
Trivia
- This duel brought an end to the longstanding feud between Arthur and Odin that began after Arthur killed Odin's son (The Once and Future Queen, The Wicked Day).
