He lives in the Forest of Glaestig. Gaius thinks he may be able to help you.
Merlin to Arthur about Dragoon[src]

The Forest of Glaestig is a forest in the kingdom of Camelot. It is home to a charcoal maker whose hut Merlin used while posing as Dragoon the Great.

History[]

Merlin and Lancelot rode through the Forest of Glaestig to catch up with Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. They found the hut of a charcoal maker who had been killed by the Dorocha and stayed the night there, but were forced to flee into the forest when the Dorocha returned (The Darkest Hour).

When Arthur decided to use magic to save his father's life, Merlin took him to the charcoal maker's hut in the Forest of Glaestig. He used an ageing spell to pose as a sorcerer called Dragoon the Great and agreed to heal Uther if Arthur would promise to stop hunting people of magic (The Wicked Day).

After they escaped Morgana's invasion of Camelot, Merlin led Arthur to the charcoal maker's hut to exchange his armour for normal clothes. His armour was later discovered by Agravaine when he searched the forest for them (The Sword in the Stone).

Mythology[]

In Scottish mythology, a Glaistig is a ghost or fairy that appears in the form of a woman or a half-goat similar to a faun. She is said to have a long green dress, grey skin, and long blonde hair.

The spirit of the Glaistig can be both a hinderance and a helper to men, depending on her nature. The Glaistig often lures men to her lair using songs and dancing in order to drink their blood, or throws stones in their path to block their way. In other variants, the Glaistig is the protector of cattle, herds, and deer, or even a goddess of the hunt.
