Geoffrey on The Chronicles of Beltane and other fables
The Chronicles of Beltane is a book accessible by Geoffrey of Monmouth that tells of the sword Excalibur. It is likely that "Beltane" is the name of the original author of the work. Alternatively, "Beltane" may be a reference to the Old Irish word "Beltene" from which Beltane derived from. It means "bright fire", and therefore the Chronicles of Beltane can be seen as stories related to the fire festival which in this case fits directly with the dragon's fire forging the sword (Excalibur).
